BEASTS OF BURDEN ll
Beasts of Burden ll is an evolving group of artists who help deliver the theme of our complicated relationship with the non-human animals with whom we cohabitate our planet.
The Beasts of Burden ll exhibition features artists Ariel Bordeaux, Nancy Diessner, Karen Fiorito, Raul Gonzalez lll, Adonna Khare, Wendy Klemperer, Denise Lindquist, Jo-Anne McArthur, Moira McLaughlin, Moby, Jane O’Hara, Julia Oldham and Gedas Paskauskas .
The exhibition is on view through November, 2017 at the Urban Foundation Gallery 203 E 73rd Street, NY, NY. for the duration of the Culture & Animals and Compassion Arts Festival taking place at Symphony Space, NY, NY.
Beasts of Burden ll takes advantage of the momentum of the animal rights movement and relies on the power of art to shake up our perceptions in fun, disturbing and poignant ways. These artists show the animals’ burden can take the form of labor and sacrifice, or their burden may be to keep us humans happy, performing in a circus or as an animal companion— the lesser of burdens, but maybe still a burden. Through these artists we see how completely entwined animals are into our lives.
