Amelia was rescued from severe abuse and neglect. She was very sick, infected with lice and parasites, grossly underweight, and terrified of humans.  At the Gentle Barn in CA. a healed Amelia has been able to become her true self; soft-spoken, kind and gentle.  If one of her friends is sick, she will stay by their side until they are better.  Sanctuaries like this not only give a life to a suffering animal but also serve to educate by allowing us to see the individual.
