WENDY KLEMPERER
Wendy Klemperer‘s bold gestural forms, translate, animals’ body language, while celebrating the magnificence of their physicality. She states “the imagery that provides my work reflects a lifelong fascination with animals. To make the sculptures I scavenge scrapyards for industrial refuse ravaged by demolition. Bent and twisted, such pieces, contain energy and potential new life. My welding process is a kind of three-dimensional gesture drawing. A network of steel lines builds the form that contains both presence and absence, with motion, conveying emotion. Focusing on the animal realm, seems no less important to me than that of humans, and is a continuity between all life on earth. The way I build the sculptures relates to an idea, fundamental to science: no matter is created or destroyed, but is ever-changing, and it’s form.”
